Safety
Landmark Construction’s dedication to safety has been a core value of our company since 1965 and reflects the fundamental respect we have for our employees, equipment, clients, the public, and the environment. We aim to meet and exceed the industry standards for health and safety and maintain our corporate goal of ZERO incidents, injuries, or illnesses. This goal will be achieved by management commitment, employee involvement, workplace hazard analysis, hazard prevention and control, behavior-based safety and health training, and by providing a discrimination-free place of employment where employees are free to express safety concerns without fear of retaliation. Our industry-leading EMR is a testament to our commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards.
Our objective is a safety and health program that sees beyond quantifiable data because, at the end of the day, it’s not about the numbers. It’s about the people. It’s about the husbands, the wives, the children, and family at home that rely on our employees every day for security, care, and love. As the employer, it is our duty and responsibility to provide our employees with all possible means of protection to ensure their continuing safety and well-being. It is not only our responsibility; it is our privilege.
Technology & Tools
We utilize advanced tools like HCSS to manage and enhance our safety protocols. HCSS helps us reduce risk, improve communication, and manage our safety systems efficiently. Additionally, we use Power BI for comprehensive safety reporting, ensuring that safety management is always at our fingertips.
Landmark recognizes that in order to keep up with the ever-evolving, fast-paced world of construction, we must continually update our technology with a Safety Management system that can keep up with the change. With the implementation of HCSS’s Safety Management Software, we have put safety in the hands of our employees and nearly eliminated the paper draw. This app-based software is all controlled directly from an iPad and gives our field employees the ability to:
Create Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)
Conduct toolbox safety talks
Document safety observations
Record incident reports and near misses
Conduct and record job site inspections
Fill out daily equipment inspection checklists that notify our in-house mechanics when there’s a deficiency
Document and store training records
Access fillable electronic forms such as confined space permits, excavation safety checklists, concrete pour cards, and many others
The Manager System within this software allows Landmark Management to actively monitor what’s happening in the field in real time. We can use this software to track employee involvement, identify leading indicators, see negative or positive trends, acknowledge safety excellence through a rewards system, and design training around what is actually needed versus just regulatory compliance. This technology ultimately leads to a safer and more productive job site.
At Landmark Construction, we prioritize safety above all. Our "Safety X Factors" are ten strategic initiatives designed to ensure the highest level of safety for our team. These carefully crafted measures demonstrate our commitment to maintaining a secure and supportive work environment for everyone.
Training & Development Initiatives
Continuous education and training are essential to our safety strategy. Our training programs include:
OSHA 10 for Construction or Basic Orientation Plus (BOP) for all employees.
OSHA 30 for Construction for all supervisors.
Annual refresher training on high-risk tasks and crucial Landmark policies and procedures.
Task-specific training sessions conducted throughout the year.
