Centerline Road
Site Work | Concrete | Utilities
In support of the new Volvo Cars manufacturing plant in Ridgeville, SC, the Berkeley County Government recognized the need for improvements to Centerline Road. Landmark Construction was hired by Thomas & Hutton to execute the site work in accordance with SCDOT Standard Specifications. Centerline Road, the primary north-south access to the Volvo site, spans approximately 25,100 feet and features a five and three-lane rural ditch cross section. The project involved extending the road from a new interchange with I-26 to US Highway 176, with the addition of left and right turn lanes at the terminus. Landmark's responsibilities included earthwork, grading, aggregate base, asphaltic concrete surface course, and drainage facilities for a total roadway length of approximately 4.5 miles, including a new alignment raised 2 to 4 feet above the existing road and an embankment up to 15 feet high with a culvert for stream crossing.
